Dr. Rick Schrock earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Missouri in 1984 and has been treating patients at Three Trails Animal Hospital since 1986. He specializes in surgery and reptile medicine and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association (KCVMA). One of Dr. Schrock's favorite parts about being a veterinarian is building relationships with clients and their pets. He enjoys finding solutions on difficult cases and loves witnessing the joy this brings to both pets and their owners. Dr. Schrock has lived and worked in Independence, MO for over 30 years. He enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, five grandchildren, and three dogs. He plays softball, reads, hunts, and loves to work outside on his property in his spare time. A fun fact about Dr. Schrock is that he plays piano for his church, and also teaches Sunday school.
Dr. Cheri Appling earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Missouri in 2003 and has worked at Three Trails since 2004. Her area of professional interest is internal medicine and she is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA). Originally from Kearney, MO, Dr. Appling currently shared her home with her husband, two boys, and Triscut, a Labrador Retriever, in Liberty, MO. She has a love for sweet barn cats and Labrador Retrievers and enjoys hiking, reading, baking, and being outdoors in her spare time. A fun fact about Dr. Appling is that she briefly went to culinary school and loves trying out new foods and restaurants.
Dr. Emily Shearhart has worked at Three Trails Animal Hospital since 2008. She graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016 and joined the team as a veterinarian that same year. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) and her professional interestes include wound management, ophthalmology, and internal medicine. She currently lives in Kansas City, MO, and enjoys spending time with her family and three bad dachshunds.
Dr. Sheryl Hemmer attended Iowa State University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2017. Her clinical training and internships included working at the Des Moines Shelter, Humane Alliance, and the Nebraska Humane Society. Her areas of professional interest include soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, and feline medicine and she is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Originally from Humphrey, NE, Dr. Hemmer currently shares her home in Raytown, MO with her husband, two dogs, four cats, and one cornsnake. When she's not practicing high-quality veterinary medicine, Dr. Hemmer enjoys playing volleyball, knitting, traveling, and attending concerts. A fun fact about Dr. Hemmer is that she is a world traveler and once backpacked through Europe!
